Bio Remediation
Bioremediation is the process of decontamination using naturally occurring bacteria.
HBR carries out ex-situ bio remediation using a variety of methods to accelerate natural degradation.
These include the pre-treatment during soil homogenisations using liquid nutrients, oxygen enriched water, bacteria or fungi followed by deposition into purpose made bio cells or formation into managed windrows.
The bio cells incorporate heated air pipe
work and volatile off-gas collection systems.
Where practical the heat for the circulating air is produced on site using purpose made mulch piles established over heat exchange systems. The window process employs mechanical turning equipment to enhance oxygenation and to add water or nutrients. The windrows are covered with heat retaining fleeces to ensure thorough degradation of the TPH and PAH’s.
Bioremediation is suitable for the reduction of TPH and PAH in most soil types providing suitable pre-treatment is carried out to homogenize the soils.
